Modeling Airflow Through Intake Manifold

The design of the intake manifold is one of the key factors determining performance of a spark ignition engine. A complex simulation framework is required to model the flow characteristics. But finer mesh densities usually means longer simulation runtime. With ANSYS Cloud and the Simr on-demand HPC environment, the team could generate highly accurate results predictions in a short period of time and determine the optimal tradeoffs.

You'll Learn:

  • How to access the Simr HPC environment in the cloud with no need to install or configure any software or hardware.

  • How model generation in ANSYS Workbench in the HPC cloud computing environment is better than a workstation.

  • How ANSYS Fluent works on the Simr HPC platform to dramatically reduce processing time for fine mesh sizes resulting in accurate simulations.

This document is based on one of the more than 200 technical case studies conducted by engineering teams in the Simr Experiment. You will benefit from the candid descriptions of the problems the teams encountered, how they solved them, and get valuable lessons learned.

With Rimac, The Fastest Electric Hypercars Finally Reach The Cloud

In 2021, Rimac and UberCloud forged a partnership, with a need for optimized innovation at its core. Rimac Technology engineers were running more and more simulations with an aging, on-premises high performance computing (HPC) cluster. While compute power continued to fall short, the demand for resources continued to grow exponentially.

CFD Simulation Of Vertical Axis Wind Turbine

Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWTs) are harder to model aerodynamically than horizontal designs due to varying wind velocities. The DMST method is inaccurate for precise estimates. CFD simulations, especially fully transient ones, offer better results.
